As an example, one can descend deep into the 19th century Champagne caves at Schramsberg Cellars, or ascend 300 feet via aerial tram to the mountaintop winery of Sterling Vineyards, or stay firmly planted on earth touring wineries by bike or auto.

Calistoga Geyser 11 6 2010

The Calistoga Geyser is one of three geysers in the world with the designation "old faithful." These are the geysers that errupt at regular intervals. A geyser exists only where there is a deep subterranean supply of water, a source of heat and a series of fissures, fractures and cavities that provide a path to the surface of the earth. About every 30 minutes, visitors are treated to an eruption of steam and scalding water spraying 60 to 100 feet in the air.

Petrified Forest 11 6 2010

The Petrified Forest of Calistoga, California attracts thousands of visitors every year. Geologists call this attraction one of the finest examples of a pliocene fossil forest in the world. The park itself is privately owned and has been since its first proprietor started excavating the large petrified trees in 1871. It's located a few miles north of town on Hwy 128

Hot Air Balloon Ride 11 6 2010

Want to be a part of this next adventure? Then, you better be an early-bird that's not afraid of heights. First, there is a pre-dawn check-In, Continental breakfast, and a pilot orientation. It's a hot air balloon adventure over the wine country. Just after sunrise, you'll climb aboard the wicker-basket gondola and slowly rise into the sky.
