In its first 125 years, Camarillo grew slowly, but the end of World War II and construction of U.S. Route 101 in the mid-1950s hastened the pace of development. Camarillo is now a thriving community in the heart of Ventura County just nine miles from the Pacific Ocean. Camarillo offers an appealing mixture of rural and suburban lifestyles.
