Fun Things To Do in Carpinteria, CA

For a day at the beach, the town of Carpinteria California makes for a sunny, relaxing stop between Santa Barbara and Ventura. This seaside village is known as home to the “World’s Safest Beach” due to the absence of riptides that are present at other California beaches. Beach amenities include volleyball courts, as well as bicycle and skate rentals.

A few blocks away, tree-shaded Linden Ave has been newly spruced up for browsing and shopping. Carpinteria offers dozens of boutique shops and fashionable restaurants offering fine dining. The city's biggest annual event is the Carpinteria Avocado Festival, which takes place the first weekend in October. It is a three-day gather featuring food, family fun and music. Rods & Roses Classis is held late in June, and the Carpinteria Triathlon is held in September. Other interesting attractions include a visit to Carpinteria parks, or the Salt Marsh Reserve to see the channel habitats of the estuary. The Museum of History has exhibits and programs relating to the three cultures that have contributed to local history- Chumash, Spanish and Anglo-American. In fact, the name “Carpinteria” translates as “carpentry shop,” a Chumash Indian word referring to the fashioning of wooden canoes.
