The Davis Art Center was founded in 1959 to promote the appreciation & execution of the visual and performing arts through classes, exhibits, performances & special events.In 1986, the current building at 1919 F Street was completed. It is 10,000 sq. feet, which includes studios for clay, weaving, photography, multi media, tap, ballet, drama and music. Additional classes which are held in these studios include modern dance and Irish step dancing, storytelling, creative writing, martial arts.

UCDavis Richard L. Nelson Gallery is free and open to the public during the announced exhibition periods from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday through Thursday, by appointment on Friday, and 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday*. (The gallery is CLOSED WEEKENDS, DURING THE SUMMER ) The satellite gallery for exhibitions of art works selected from The Fine Arts Collection is located in the Walter A. Buehler Alumni & Visitors Center, adjacent to the Mondavi Center, & is free and open to the public.
