Located in downtown Grass Valley, The historic Holbrooke Hotel was built in 1862, and has the oldest continuously operating saloon west of the Mississippi. The hotel has hosted four U.S. Presidents, including Ulysses S. Grant, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, James Garfield, as well as Mark Twain. You can view their signatures in the hotel's guest register. In 1974 the Holbrooke Hotel was declared a California State Landmark NO. 914.
