Montecito Weather

Welcome To Montecito, California

In an idyllic hillside setting with a delightful Mediterranean climate, Montecito is among the most elegant small communities in the world, home to movie stars, successful writers, and a wealth of billionaires. Montecito, “little mountains, little forest,” is located between the coastal range and the Pacific Ocean a few miles outside of Santa Barbara, and famous as a home to the well-heeled of today and eras past. Local estates are reminiscent of the lavish building styles and landscapes of England, Spain, Italy and France. Visitors will find two distinct shopping areas in the town of Montecito. Both the upper and lower villages offer a wide selection of outlets for daily necessities as well as upscale boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Catering to a gracious lifestyle, Montecito shopping is often compared to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and its climate and beaches to the Riviera. For visitors to the area, Lotusland, a 37-acre estate and botanical gardens formerly owned and designed by European socialite Ganna Walska, is open to the public and provides a glimpse into her opulent lifestyle and devotion to the beauty and artistic possibilities of her gardens. Another private estate available for tours is the Casa del Herrero, listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. This fine example of Spanish Revival architecture offers a look back in time to life as the other half lived it, in the Montecito of the 1930’s. Montecito is located on the coast a few miles north of Santa Barbara.
