Pismo Beach Monarch Grove 11 6 2010

The Pismo Beach Monarch Grove is the largest in the state and averages 25,000 over Butterflies per year. It is the largest aggregation of Monarch butterlies in the U.S. and attracts visitors than any site in the world during Monarch season, from late October to February. During Butterfly season the grove is open from 10am to 4pm daily. Docent led walks are at 11am and 2 pm.

Pismo State Beach is a 60-acre regional beach, pier and promenade with volleyball courts, children's play equipment and many ocean recreation opportunities. The Pismo Beach Pier is the center piece of the town, a hub of south county surfing, and the most popular fishing pier in the Central Coast. The current pier was built in 1924 but suffered major damage in the storms of 1983. It is 1,370 feet long and has several cantilevered fishing decks.

Oceano Dunes State Park 11 6 2010

This off road beach area is among the most popular and unique of California State Parks. The 5 _ miles of beach is open for vehicle use and the sand dunes are available for off highway motor vehicle recreation. Oceano Dunes is the only California State Park where vehicles may be driven on the beach. Located at the end of W Grand Ave in Grover Beach.
